I have heard many people say you don't need to buy now with the interest rates higher. Well, they aren't going down to those 2.5-3% interest rates anytime soon and if you want to continue to pay rent at 100% instead of buying a house at 6-8% then you may miss the boat. My Hubby & I bought our first home in 1992 and had a 12% interest rate, but was still so happy to have bought our first home. Properties are not "depreciating", they are normalizing. Yes, prices go down every day right now in different markets, but those are homes that were overpriced to begin with and the seller needs to come down to reality and price the home accordingly. Even if your home is "worth" what you are asking or appraises for more than what the market bears, that still means that the market will dictate how much your home will sell for. This week the interest rates have came down a little and more than we have seen since September of this year! Marry the House.....Date the Rate!
I just tell my buyers if you think now is the right time for you, then now is definitely the right time for you! If you wait then you may kick yourself later. Again, if you are renting then you are paying 100% interest toward paying off your landlords mortgage and if you invest in your own home, then you start building equity! You can always refinance your loan later to get a lower interest rate!
